Wi-Fi Access Through Light Bulb & LED Lights
It is the matter of time that we will be able to access Wi-Fi emitting through Lightbulbs. This idea is formulated and invented by some scientists at Fudan University in Shanghai. They have developed a prototype of such device and known as Li-Fi technology.
Professor Harald has coined the term Li-Fi and is doing extensive research in this field. There are some micro chips embedded in a light bulb, they can facilitate transfer of data at speeds of about 150 Mbps. Scientists have tested that four computers can access internet under the light bulb using light frequencies rather than radio waves.
This is a distinct advantage in that the visible light is far more plentiful than the radio spectrum (10,000 times more in fact) and can achieve far greater data density. Li-Fi signals work by switching bulbs on and off incredibly quickly – too quickly to be noticed by the human eye. This most recent breakthrough builds upon this by using tiny micro-LED bulbs to stream several lines of data in parallel.
Although it is just an experiment till date but soon we will be able to get a Li-Fi kit in the market and can start accessing Wi-Fi by just installing a light bulb.
There is a TED talk available on Youtube by Prof. Harald Haas on this awesome technology for the future.

3-D Video (Anaglyph vs. Polarized)
The 3D Video technology has been around since early 20th Century and has progressed a lot in recent years. It is clear that there is a third dimension added to a 2D image to give it a stereo effect. There are three main categories of 3D glasses available today to watch 3D content either in cinemas or on TV:
- Anaglyph 3D glasses
- Polarized 3D glasses
- Shutter 3D glasses
Red-Cyan Glasses for Anaglyph 3D Videos
Above picture shows the most common type of 3D glasses which helps in viewing Anaglyph 3D videos. These videos can be played on common TV either CRT, LCD or LED screens. No special hardware or software is needed for playing such videos. Also, one can easily convert any 2D video into Anaglyph 3D video using one of the video converters available such as 'Video Converter Ultimate'.
The cyan lens filters out the red light while the red lens filters all the cyan light in the video. The differently colored lenses allow our eyes to capture two different angles of an image, or two different images entirely. The brain then merges one image with the other, resulting in a ‘popping’ effect with a unified image jumping off the screen or the picture.
Polarized 3D Glasses
3D Glasses shown in picture above are widely used in multiplexes where 3D movies can be watched wearing these glasses on big screen giving an awesome experience and 3D effect. These glasses also comes with 3D LCD or LED TVs so that anyone can enjoy 3D movies at their home.
3D Anaglyph Picture
Above picture is an example of Anaglyph picture having red and cyan colors in the picture which are filtered by the glasses and objects in the picture appears to be 3-Dimensional.
The Anaglyph glasses are easily available in the market and they can be made at home, making them inexpensive. Also there are several movies available in Anaglyph 3D online which can be downloaded and one can enjoy them at home on normal TV screens.

3-D Printing Technology
3-D printing is an additive manufacturing technology where a 3D object is fabricated by laying several successive layers of material. This revolutionary technology creates 3-D models using inkjet technology. A complete model can be created in a single process. This saves time and cost by eliminating the need of designing, printing and then glue together separate parts.
Basic 3-D Printer
This modern technology has smoothed the path for several new possibilities in various fields. The fields that can take advantages of this technology are production industry, medical field to print body parts for reference of complex surgeries, architects etc.
3-D Printed Shoes
Recently Engineers in UK have designed, printed and practically tested the world's first aircraft which is mostly manufactured via 3-D printing technology. It's an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and requires no fasteners and no tools to assemble. Isn't it amazing!!!

Evolution of Mobile Phones
What NEXT!!! |
In today's world mobile phones are the integral part of anyone's life . Almost 90% of world's population has been penetrated by mobile phone technology. World's first mobile phone that was actually mobile (easier to carry) was Motorola's Dyna Tac.

Since then these devices have been evolving at such faster pace and incorporating so many services and technologies in a single unit, they are becoming complete package with web, audio, video, communication services. The latest mobile phones also referred as Smartphones, are becoming hub of almost every technology and feature that one can think of ranging from simple calling, navigation guide, entertainment box, High definition TV, video conferencing, gaming, information, personal assistant and the list goes on...
Apple's breakthrough technologies have been experienced by us all. They have taken the mobile phone experience to another level with Iphone series.
The slimmest of all smartphones is recently introduced by Huwaei is Ascend P6 which is just 6.18mm thick.

Internet - Free for ALL
Google's Project Loon is a network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, designed to connect people in rural and remote areas, help fill coverage gaps, and bring people back online after disasters. As world's 2/3rd population still does not have internet access this technology will change the scenario. This project is under test in New Zealand started in June 2013.
Hope this futuristic project from Google will reach to every corner of the world and internet is made available to all without any boundary.
